Last week, a huge scandal rocked the Tunisian and Arab scientific and educational world: a PhD student submitted a thesis declaring Earth to be flat, unmoving, young (only 13,500 years of age), and the centre of the universe. The first target is the spent fuel rods stored at 4 reactors starting with the more dangerous melted and damaged rods from the pool at Reactor 4. That extraction of hundreds of tons of spent fuel should start in 2 years and would take around 10 years to remove.
The effort, known as the Jefferson Project, involves more than 60 scientists from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, New York; the FUND for Lake George , a regional conservation group; and IBM research labs in Brazil, Ireland, Texas, and New York.
The Operations, Information and Decisions Department at the Wharton School is home to faculty with a diverse set of interests in behavioral economics, decision-making, information technology, information-based strategy, operations management, and operations research.
Rain (or any other form of precipitation) is a part of the water cycle, which means that water from bodies of water on land evaporates, and then comes back down to earth by precipitating (rain, snow, hail…). This cycle has been constant for millions of years.
Acidic rain is mostly caused by a chemical reaction, which occurs when compounds such as sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxide (NOx) are released into the air and later on rise up to the atmosphere where they will mix/react with water and oxygen forming acid rain as it is seen in Figure 1. There are two main causes when it comes to acidic pollutants.
